Indoor Drop-in sessions
What are drop-in sessions?
Our indoor drop‑in training sessions are designed to help you and your versatile hunting dog build the foundation you need, both in obedience and in working together as a team. These 1.5‑hour sessions give each member a dedicated 15‑minute block inside the training space to focus on a specific skill of their choice, while receiving support and coaching from knowledgeable NPA NAVHDA members.
These sessions are not formal 1:1 lessons with a professional trainer. Instead, they reflect the heart of NAVHDA: members learning from members. You’ll work alongside handlers with years of experience developing their versatile hunting dogs, as well as newer members eager to grow, share ideas, and strengthen their training skills in a supportive, interactive environment.
Whether you’re polishing obedience, building confidence, or preparing for field and water work, these drop‑in sessions offer a welcoming space to learn, practice, and connect with the NPA NAVHDA community.

Heel Fundamentals
Strengthen your dog’s focus and responsiveness by teaching them to walk calmly at your side through turns, stops, and changes of pace. Heel work builds the foundation for teamwork and control in both training and real hunting situations.

Trained Retrieve
Build a dependable retrieve by teaching your dog to confidently pick up, hold, and deliver objects on command. Trained retrieve creates consistency, reliability, and clarity, key elements for advanced field and water work

Steady/Whoa
Develop your dog’s ability to stop, stand, and remain composed around birds, movement, and distractions. Steady/woah work lays the groundwork for pointing, honoring, and controlled field performance.
